Eastenders

Eastenders (Charles Webster and Rudi Engelbrecht) is comprised of two ex-Jozi boys who’ve moved to the KZN Midlands. Charles (lead vocals and acoustic guitar) is from the Near East (Kensington) while Rudi (harmonies and percussion) is from the Far East (Benoni – a distant and dangerous place to people from the Near East). Together, they deliver rocking, happy covers that get heads bopping and voices singing along. Their setlist is as delightfully mixed up as their geography—spanning from the poetic pop of Simon & Garfunkel to the leather-jacket swagger of Guns ‘n Roses. Whether you’re into AC/DC’s Highway to Hell or the rebel yells of Billy Joel in the wilds of the Midlands, Eastenders have you covered. Expect detours through Eurythmics, Queen, Mango Groove, and even a nod to the emo soul of Snow Patrol—proof that these two will tackle just about anything (except maybe Marilyn Manson, who still scares Rudi a little). It’s part pub rock, part singalong, part nostalgia trip—and 100% Midlands magic.
